Health Care Reform and Pharmacy
Wednesday, August 18th, 2010I’m asked more and more by students what I see coming in the future of the medical field and, in particular, pharmacy with the coming health care reform.
My short version: it’s not good.
The end result will be higher costs and poorer service. It’s like expecting good service from the DMV or Post Office. Sure, it can happen. But, it’s rare. More often you’re treated like cattle.
End result: as a pharmacist, doctor or other health care provider you will become more and more of a commodity. There will be a push to get OUT of the profession (we are already seeing it with doctors). You may do OK if you specialize.
This may seem unfair to some readers. It may seem to bleak. Well, I’d rather be honest with you than blow smoke. We have to do something. And now. And I’m not the only one who agrees.
While he doesn’t spend all his time talking about health care reform, he does touch on it. His name is Steve Wynn. He’s a famous real estate developer and casino owner in Las Vegas. This video says it all.
